Project M is a gameplay modification of Super Smash Bros. Brawl designed to make the gameplay more closely resemble that of Super Smash Bros. Melee, as well as Super Smash Bros. To a lesser extent. Project M's primary change from Brawl is that the speed of gameplay has been generally increased and the character landing lag is shorter, alongside the restoration of many Melee mechanics.

There is a regression in Dolpgin that has been in error for the last 4 months but has been working without issue on EVERY version before the version that corrupted it.. I am trying to use Super smash Infinite from this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5YmGDnyTUG4&t=4s.The new versions fail and says 'Exception dsi occured' when time to use sd card viewing geckos boot.elf. When i go to https://dolphin-emu.org/download/list/master/41/ 5.0-6302 version however the gecko os sd card opening program works... Could we get some help with this I'd hate to see regression with progression.
What steps will reproduce the problem?
[Reproduction steps here]
Is the issue present in the latest development version? For future reference, please also write down the version number of the latest development version.
[Version number here]
Is the issue present in the latest stable version?
[Yes/No and version number here] Yes the issue is only not present around 5.0-6302
If the issue isn't present in the latest stable version, which is the first broken version? (You can find the first broken version by bisecting. Windows users can use the tool https://forums.dolphin-emu.org/Thread-green-notice-development-thread-unofficial-dolphin-bisection-tool-for-finding-broken-builds and anyone who is building Dolphin on their own can use git bisect.)
[First broken version number here (if applicable)] It became broke somewhere after 5.0-6302 im not sure directly after but close
If your issue is a graphical issue, please attach screenshots and record a three frame fifolog of the issue if possible. Screenshots showing what it is supposed to look like from either console or older builds of Dolphin will help too. For more information on how to use the fifoplayer, please check here: https://wiki.dolphin-emu.org/index.php?title=FifoPlayer
[Attach any fifologs if possible, write a description of fifologs and screenshots here to assist people unfamiliar with the game.]
What are your PC specifications? (CPU, GPU, Operating System, more)
Very impressive but this isnt relevant to the issue
Is there anything else that can help developers narrow down the issue? (e.g. logs, screenshots,
configuration files, savefiles, savestates)

Isn't this because we enabled MMU emulation?
DSI exception usually means a bug in the game itself, do you know if that particular copy of the game even runs on Wii?
#3 Updated by JMC4789over 2 years ago
I decided to double check the build revisions, and there's nothing around there that would break it. You'll need to narrow it down further.

I think this will prove what's wrong
5.0 - 6566 should work - https://dolphin-emu.org/download/dev/35bfa64dfcb9e0d873f95bd7d3a9aa8b29e99cb6/
5.0 - 6568 should have the DSI exception - https://dolphin-emu.org/download/dev/43c92c8b1673eb1680fc059a973693c030061efc/
Now the issue is that 6568 should cause DSI exceptions in buggy programs. We've run into DSI exceptions in other Brawl mods after that build that users confirmed actually happened on console.

The best way to fix the DSI exception would be if the Smash Infinite team worked with us and we figured out why it was crashing. That would likely take a while and we don't know if the issue is on our end or their end.
If you only care about playing the game, you can go into Dolphin.ini (by default, located in My Documents/Dolphin Emulator/Config) and either changing (or if it doesn't exist creating under [Core]) MMU = false. That will restore the old behavior of letting the erroneously access memory it shouldn't without triggering a DSI.

THANK YOU SO MUCH I just wanted a temporary fix for that game some friends came over today and i put on infinite on the new version and i was pretty stumped on why it was failing because everything was gold months ago but thanks for that thats all i wanted. A recommendation would be to allow dolphin to decide which isos and games can and will not use mmu? Thanks for the help I didnt expect to get any help. I will share your fix with tons of others who have to go to months old versions to enjoy this good mod expansion of the game on this great constantly being updated emulator.

Does the problem still happen if you disable all Wii Remotes in the controller settings?
#10 Updated by Techjarover 2 years ago
There's an 'Enable MMU' option in the game properties, so you don't need to disable it via the global Dolphin.ini.

Make sure it's unchecked and not just unset.

Oh wait, I forget that you launch via the Gecko loader, so nevermind. The only way is to set it in Dolphin.ini. My bad.

Techjar: The GUI doesn't provide you with game properties for DOL/ELF files. (You can edit 00000000.ini manually, though.)

You'll need to manually create it under the GameSettings directory.

Yes, minus the parenthesis, that's not supposed to be there.
